Kerry & Danny l Damascus, MD
September 14th, 2013
Bobby and I met Kerry and Danny last year at the very start of their engagement. These high school sweethearts are kind, hard-working people, and know how to have a good time! Classic as apple pie. Fitting, we photographed their engagement in an apple orchard. Danny's family owns Toigo Orchards, while Kerry works as a nurse....such a pleasure to know these two. And to be there to celebrate. Tip of the hat Mr. and Mrs. Toigo!
It's a perfect crisp morning when Bobby and I get to the hotel to greet the ladies. Sleepy, but lovely, in matching monogrammed oxfords, the 8 bridesmaids are snuggling on the couch.
Maid-of-honor, Kelly, brings much needed coffee, music turns on and the prep begins. Hair and makeup looks like a breeze with this team, good thing with this many girls!
Bobby gives me his classic, "'Man, I'm glad I'm not a lady' look"...as the hairspray and curling irons do their bidding. Almost time to check in on the boys.
Danny's brood greets us in true farm boy fashion, sipping Bud Light and enjoying the sounds of college football. The groom is calm as can be, hanging out with his little brother, Paul. Danny rallies the troops when it's time to suit up for photos.
After some struggle with cufflinks and lots of questions about how to fold a pocket square, we head downstairs with our fellas, looking sharp.
Now here's where the day gets interesting. Bobby stays with the girls, while I head to the church with the boys on the limo bus. We figure, why not mix it up? I can tell you, I was thoroughly entertained on the ride.
Back at the reception site, Bobby awaits the first appearance of the bride. Kerry's parents live down the street from my childhood best friend's house. And we come to find out that her brother and sister are twins, born on August 18th, just like Bobby and his brother. Some things are meant to be!
Kerry's mom looks so beautiful as she beams down at the girls. I wish I could have seen Kerry at the top of the stairs...and the reaction of her bridesmaids. What a beautiful moment! What a beautiful bride!
It's time for this bride to meet her groom. The limo circles back to pick up the bevy of ladies and it's off to the church!
The boys and I struggle to make sense of the boutineers, thankfully Mom saves the day. Teri loves her boys so much, so sweet to see them together. Outside, Ken awaits his little girl, making her debut as the bride-to-be.
And the moment is here, time to get married...I can't help but think of our own wedding day. So happy for these two!
Everyone is ready for cocktail hour back by the pool, but we can't miss a chance for some fun with this wedding party. They brought it!
Off to the reception, a poolside paradise, perfect for this classic bride and groom. So much has been put towards preparing the family home for the wedding. Much of the decorations are handmade; family and friends having contributed so much love and care...the setting is simply lovely.
While cocktail hour starts up, the bride and groom enjoy some alone time in the front yard with Bobby. I remember Bobby taking portraits of these two at their engagement session and saying "next time we do this, it'll be your wedding day!" :0)
And let the party officially begin! The bride and groom join their guests. So many have come to celebrate Kerry and Danny, clearly a beloved couple.
And into the tent we go. Time to announce Mr. and Mrs. Toigo! But first, Ken walks in Sue and Teri, looking lovely. And Kerry and Danny share their first dance and husband and wife...I love it.
The food looks incredible and the guests are ready for it. As the buffet lines up, Bobby and I enjoy the sights and smells....and stop by the table of honor.
With full bellies and happy hearts, dancing resumes, with father/daughter and mother/son dances that bring a tear to the eye of these photographers!
Maid of Honor, sister Kelly, and Best Man, brother Paul, don't disappoint with the speeches.
With "bride and groom" bubble sets on every table; a stone to put towards the charity of your choice (the Bride and Groom will make a donation to the fullest jar's charity); and great tunes from DJ Bruce Pike, the night is destined for greatness!
It's time to boogie. Tunes are outstanding! The dance floor is packed all night long...
Quick cake break. But this party doesn't miss a beat. Right back at it, hit it Bruce!
"All single ladies to the stage please, all single ladies to the stage." Time for bouquet and garter toss!
At the finish of the last song, Old Crow Medicine Show's, "Wagon Wheel" (great choice!) the crowd chants "one more song, one more song!" Bruce obliges and they dance the night away...
Kerry and Danny, Congratulations! We are so honored to have been guests at your wedding, and wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness. Have a great time in Jamaica!!!!
Love,
Kolleen and Bobby
