Julia & Chris's Wedding | January 15th, 2016

Kiana Lodge | Poulsbo, WA

Before anything else, Bobby and I consider ourselves to be adventurers. We love new traveling to new destinations as much as discovering the happenings in our own backyard. We were thrilled when Julia & Chris contacted us about coming to the Pacific Northwest to document their wedding weekend extravaganza!

We got to know Julia as the maid of honor at Asheleigh and Tom's 2015 wedding. This time, the roles were switched for these friends! 

 Quickly after seeing the skyline and enjoying our first donut, Seattle had stolen our hearts. Our favorite part of destination weddings is getting to document the entire weekend. After all, wedding prep would not be complete without nail salons and pizza. We got to see the couple's cozy love nest, and meet their adorable pup, before excitedly boarding the ferry with the wedding party. Bainbridge Island, here we come!  

The Pacific Northwest basically combines everything I love about New England with the wildness of the west coast. WOW. 

The Kiana Lodge is a nature-lovers dream come true. Even in January, this venue is breathtaking, the perfect mix of rustic and natural elegance. A venue such as this needs little more than accents of fern, moss, and string lights to come to life. Julia and Chris's decor is quintessentially PNW. 

This couple is timeless. They are best friends, so kind with one another, and always ready for a laugh. Their thoughtfulness comes through in details like Julia wearing her Grandmother's gown, and Chris wearing his Grandfather's ring. Julia is such a classic beauty, she looked stunning with her teardrop earrings and fur stole. She even made a costume change for the reception and slipped into a dear family friend's dress, in memoriam. Ready for dancing! 

My favorite moment of the reception is the choreographed dance to Becky G's, "Singing in the Shower." So good. 

The true delight is getting to whisk away our bride and groom for an adventure in the Olympic National Rainforest the day after the wedding. Not many people are willing to trek into the wilderness in their wedding best, but Julia and Chris are the type that know it's important to seize an opportunity for romance. They laced up their Duck boots and said yes. 

What a fairytale.....
