Hans and Sally

September 25, 2012  •  2 Comments

Bobby and I were sitting by the brook on a sunny afternoon in Vermont, just days away from our own wedding, when Hans sent us an email about his upcoming marriage to fiance, Sally. Fast forward a month later, Sunday, September 23rd, we pull up to The Arts Club of Washington, eager to meet the bride and groom.

Home of former president, James Monroe, these impressive digs set the stage for an exquisite wedding, each room filled with gorgeous furniture and artwork. Stairways that wind through hallways into a hidden library. All of it leading out to the back patio...the site of this gorgeous wedding.

Sally, a dollfaced tomboy, stands in the front parlor with her bevy of ladies when we greet her. In faded blue jeans and a plaid shirt, there is not much threat of a bridezilla here. Instead we meet a quiet, confident woman, with a killer smile and a kind spirit.

The dress is simple, a classic. Sally is so elegant and humble as she prepares for the ceremony...but she doesn't miss a chance to giggle in excitement as they zip her up. She stands before her family and friends as the sunlight pours in the streetside windows. What a lovely bride!

Hans looks very handsome awaiting his bride.

What a kiss, so romantic. Turns out it's hard to take pictures with tears in your eyes :0) Congratulations!

Time for cocktails. The crowd moves up onto the second floor. Grabbing a glass of champagne and enjoying the sounds. Upright bass, violin, and banjo. Now that's my kind of wedding band!

With full bellies and dancing feet, the crowd moves back into the beautiful mansion for music and cake. The band is going for it and although there aren't too many dancers in the crowd, those that partake, go all the way.

With all eyes on them, Hans and Sally are hesitant as they take the stage. They begin and sway for a few moments more before realizing that the music has yet to start. The laughter seems to be exactly what they need, breathing a sigh of relief, they share a beautiful first dance as husband and wife.

Bobby and I turn to each other and smile, love is all around. Congratulations Hans and Sally!
